How Much Do Disc Blades Cost? 2026 Price Guide

Farmers ask us this question at least a dozen times a week. Ballpark: a mid-sized 24" carbon-steel tandem-disc blade runs $85-$110 per blade in 2026. Small coulters start around $30. Large heavy offsets can top $150 each. Here's the honest price map so you can budget a full-gang replacement without surprises.

Base price ranges by size

  • 15-17" coulters — $30 to $55 each
  • 18-20" blades — $55 to $80 each
  • 22" blades — $70 to $95 each
  • 24" blades — $85 to $115 each (the modal size, most people land here)
  • 26" blades — $95 to $135 each
  • 28" blades — $115 to $150 each
  • 30" and larger — $135 to $200 each

Alloy premium

Boron-alloy blades cost roughly 20-30% more than plain carbon at the same size and thickness. A $95 carbon-steel 24" blade would be $115-120 in boron. See our boron vs. carbon guide for whether the premium pays.

Thickness premium

Thicker blades cost more (more steel). Rough premiums over the base thickness for a given size:

  • 4mm to 6mm: +25%
  • 6mm to 8mm: +30%

  • JD 2623 (60 blades × ~$70 for 20" VT) — $4,200 before discounts
  • Case IH 3900 (48 blades × ~$95 for 24" carbon) — $4,560 before discounts
  • Krause 4900 (36 blades × ~$100 for 24") — $3,600 before discounts
  • Case IH 496 offset (36 blades × ~$130 for 28" heavy) — $4,680 before discounts

  • 4-19 blades: 5% off
  • 20+ blades: 10% off

Every full-gang order hits the 10% discount. On a $4,560 Case IH 3900 gang order, that's $456 off — enough to pay for the gang bearings while you're at it.

Shipping

Free ground shipping on orders $600+. Any full-gang order easily clears that threshold. Same-day ship on orders placed by 12pm CT. Larger orders (heavy offsets, no-till blades) may ship LTL freight depending on total weight — we'll call to confirm delivery windows.

What drives the price differences

  1. Raw steel cost. More mass = higher steel input cost. Simple.
  2. Boron alloy. ~15-20% raw material premium.
  3. Heat treatment. Boron blades require more careful heat treat, adding to cost.
  4. Punching complexity. Square-hole punching is standardized. Special axle shapes (splined, offset-punched) cost more.
  5. OEM branding. A dealer-part-number blade from JD or Case IH will run 40-100% more than the equivalent aftermarket blade with identical spec. We stock aftermarket to OEM spec, not OEM-branded blades.

Are aftermarket disc blades as good as OEM?
When manufactured to the same alloy and thickness spec, yes. We source from mills that produce OEM blades for major brands — same steel, same heat treat, just without the OEM part-number premium. That said, a cheap import blade at half OEM price is often skipping heat treat and will wear 2-3x faster.
Why are OEM blades so much more expensive?
You're paying for the dealer network, warranty overhead, and the brand mark. The blade itself is often manufactured by the same mill that supplies aftermarket blades. On identical-spec aftermarket, you get identical performance at 40-60% of the price.
Do you have financing on large orders?

When are prices lowest?
We hold steady pricing year-round — no seasonal spikes at spring or fall turnaround. Steel cost fluctuations do move blade prices 5-15% per year, but you won't see us gouge on demand.
Is the discount automatic or do I need a code?
Fully automatic. 5% off at 4 blades, 10% off at 20+. Applies to any mix of blade SKUs in a single order. Free shipping at $600 subtotal — also automatic.
